Stayed Patong 2 nights then moved to Kata — best decision. Still have cafés and restaurants but the beach isn't a party zone. Morning surf at Kata Noi (south end) before the speedboats show up. Grab from Patong was 350 baht.

Sunday walking street on Thalang Rd is worth planning around. But even on a weekday — walk Dibuk and Krabi roads for the Sino-Portuguese houses, then coffee at One Chun or Raya. Most beach tourists never come here and they're missing the best food on the island.

Coral Island (Koh Hey) day trip from Chalong — 45 min speedboat, back by 3pm. Snorkeling was decent, beach crowded but fine for a first island fix. Booked same morning at the pier for 900 baht. Phi Phi tomorrow — heard it's a longer day.

Honest Patong review: Bangla Road is exactly what you expect at night. But the beach itself gets busy and the jet skis are annoying. We're glad we booked here for 2 nights for the nightlife, moving to Karon tomorrow for the second half.

Rawai seafront tip: pick your seafood from the market stalls, then any restaurant will cook it for 100–150 baht per kg. Sunset views on the east coast hit different from the west — different vibe, less swimming but great for dinner.

Phang Nga Bay tour yesterday — James Bond Island is touristy but the kayak through Koh Panak caves was the real highlight. Left from Ao Po pier, back at 4pm. Wear shoes you don't mind getting wet.
