Best day trip from Lisbon without a car?
Arriving solo next week. Is Sintra doable by train in a day, or should I pick Cascais instead? Looking for something not too touristy.

Sintra is 100% doable by train from Rossio (~40 min). Go early (catch the 8:30), start at Pena Palace before the crowds, then walk down to the Moorish Castle. Buy tickets online to skip queues. Cascais is more relaxed/beachy if you want a slower day.

Local here — if it's your first time, Sintra. But honestly do Cascais on a separate afternoon, the train from Cais do Sodré follows the coast and it's gorgeous.
