Patong vs Kata for 4 nights — which base?

Three friends mid-20s. We want some nightlife but also chill beach days. Is Patong too much for 4 full nights or should we split between areas?

Split it. 2 nights Patong for Bangla and convenience, then Kata or Karon for the rest. Kata has enough restaurants without the constant touts. Grab between them is easy.

If nightlife is only 1-2 nights, stay Kata/Karon and Grab to Patong for the evening. Saves you from sleepless nights — Patong is loud until 2am.
