Calm beach area for kids — Kamala or Karon?

Family of 4, kids 6 and 9. Want gentle waves, not party scene. Which west coast beach is better for a week stay?

Karon — wider beach, gradual slope, more space. Kamala is quieter but fewer food options walking distance. Both fine for families. Avoid Patong with young kids.

We saw lots of families at Karon. Kata works too but waves can be stronger on surf days.
